Welcome! The group of Prof. Irena Knezevic in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison explores the interaction of charge carriers, lattice vibrations, and electromagnetic waves in nanoscale systems. Our research is theoretical in nature: we develop novel mathematical and computational techniques in order to simulate the exciting world at the nanoscale. We also collaborate with several excellent experimental groups.

Our work has been supported by the DOE, NSF, and AFOSR.

A note for prospective students: The work in this group is exclusively theoretical and computational in nature. It requires a strong background and a passion for math, theoretical physics, and programming. If you think you might be a good fit for the group, email Prof. Knezevic. Include a brief CV, along with (unofficial) test scores and transcript. The group has students pursuing PhDs in ECE, Physics, and Materials Science & Engineering. In general, you will have to enroll in one of these graduate programs in order to join the group.
